Hello Dyako,

I hope this message finds you well. I understand that you are seeking information regarding the possibility of reattempting first-year courses after not passing and being informed of failing all subjects. I'd like to provide you with some guidance on the matter.

Meeting specific credit requirements is necessary for progressing to the next academic year in most academic institutions. For instance, advancing to the second year of the IHRM program requires 54 credits or more.

If your earned credits fall below a certain threshold, the standard procedure is to enroll again in the first year to fulfill the requirements. But, in case you have faced any challenges, be they personal or otherwise, that have negatively affected your performance, you may appeal to the examination committee for consideration.

Should you wish to appeal your results due to extenuating circumstances, it is crucial to approach the exam committee promptly. In your appeal, clearly outline the challenges you faced and provide any supporting documentation that validates your claim. The committee will then assess your case and may consider overlooking grades on exams that you passed. If you want to receive an exception for a subpar performance, you need to provide valid reasons for it.

It's essential to note that the process of appealing to the examination committee is typically reserved for situations where there are exceptional circumstances that significantly impact academic performance. If your credits fall below the required threshold and your appeal is not successful, the standard procedure would be to retake the first-year courses to accumulate the necessary credits for progression.

I suggest that you get in touch with your study counsellor or the relevant administrative office to receive personalized guidance for your situation. They can furnish you with detailed information regarding the appeals process and the necessary steps to follow. Additionally, they can also inform you about any support services that are available to assist you in navigating through this challenging phase.

Wishing you the best of luck in your academic endeavors.

Sincerely,

Plamena Vasileva
