Hello,
I have a question about the language requirements for Msc programme in Applied Nanotechnology. Is there any exemption for the language requirement? The language of instruction was English (got BSc degree in electrical engineering). And I have Dutch citizenship.
Regards

You should ask questions about the master at masterappliednanotechnology.led@saxion.nl

RANCHINI JAYARAMANvroeg 5 maanden, 4 weken geleden
Hi,I am Ranchini Jayaraman from India, I am 39, so would like to go for Short Bachelor, I have 20 years work experience. My Doubt is, am i eligible to do Master with this short term Bachelor, Am i Eligible for Post study Visa after this 1 year stud.
Your answer is more valuable for me. Thank you.
-
The electrical engineering study does not have a short bachelor, it is a full four years. After that you can do a master. You should ask the international office (internationaloffice@saxion.nl) about the visa. It might be different for civil engineering, but then you should ask the civil engineering students (or the international office)

Groeten,
Christiaan

Vaikunthvroeg 8 maanden geleden
Hi! As mentioned in the course overview, can I opt for nanotechnology at my discretion or it depends on the university? I mean is there any criteria for studying nanotechnology?
-
Hello Vaikunth,
If you want to study the nanotechnology master of Saxion you can do this after you have finished your bachelor without further requirements.
If you want to study the nanotechnology master at the University of Twente you will need to do a premaster as your minor.Christiaan

Welke vakken heb ook nodig om voor Elektrotechniek, toe te worden gelaten, want ik had havo economie en maatschappij gehad. En ik wil dan ook weten hoe en waar ik die vakken kan gaan volgen.

Hi Jan,
Dan moet je aan een deficiëntieonderzoek meedoen. Hier vind je meer info: https://www.saxion.nl/opleidingen/voltijd/bachelor/elektrotechniek/toelating.

Anirudhvroeg 1 jaar, 3 maanden geleden
Hi, I have an interest in electronic and electrical engineering, at present, I am studying 12 grade in India, is there any special requirement for Indians and what language the course taught, is it mandatory to know dutch if u want to study in the university, what would the entire cost? thank you
-
Hi Anirudh,
That would be a great choice as the course programme for Electronic and Electrical Engineering is great. You find find all admission requirements at:
https://www.saxion.edu/programmes/bachelor/electrical-and-electronic-engineering/requirements
The course is entirely in English, so you do not need to know any Dutch to join. There are thousands of other international students and as you can imagine, not many of them speak Dutch at all (myself included). The only thing you will need to do is to provide an English proficiency certificate, although since you are from India it might not be necessary if your High School diploma states that your education is already in English language.
For costs, you can find all information including breakdown of separate fees on:
https://www.saxion.edu/studying-in-the-netherlands/finance-your-studies/tuition-fees
As a heads up, you will need over €13k for the first year, which includes tuition fees, accommodation for the year and visa fees.
Hope this helps!

Petrosvroeg 1 jaar, 7 maanden geleden
1)Is it difficult to find accommodation in Enschede?2)How many do not manage to pass to the next year and which are the reasons why they don't succeed?3)Since i am from Greece, do students manage to easily adapt to the English speaking programs?
-
Hi Petros,
Thank you for your message and apologies for the late response!
I will answer your questions below:
1) There are plenty of rooms advertised throughout Enschede, but there's also a lot of demand, so I suggest you start looking for a room as soon as possible if you're starting this September. You could be lucky and find a room within a couple of days, but depending on what you are looking for it could take you maybe 2 to 3 weeks to secure a place. I recommend you join the following Facebook groups as plenty of students advertise in them.Saxion International Students Enschede
University of Twente - International
University of Twente - Marktplaats
Apartments in Enschede-Saxion students
Wohnungen in Enschede2) I actually just finished the 1st year in Elektrotechniek with 100% approval, so I can answer this with some authority I hope :). I personally experienced about a 50% success rate of students going through to the second year. The reasons can be varied, as either the course turns out to be not interesting to a particular student, or most often unfortunately is because the student did not dedicate the right amount of time for self-study. Of course, people have different learning paces, but what I can assure you is that between colleagues there's a good sense of community, meaning that study groups are always formed and every one is happy to help, and in addition the professors are very helpful and available, as the culture here in the Netherlands and at Saxion is that the professors and students are at the same level, meaning you can always knock on their doors to ask for help.
All students who dedicated time to study and took the course seriously have been approved.3) This is a definitely yes. There are so many different nationalities in the international class and although you require a minimum IELTS result to be admitted, you can notice different skill levels when it comes to speaking English. I can assure you though that the professors are aware that you will not be taking a course in your local language, as most of them are foreigners too! Even some of my colleagues that speak the least English between us have been successful in their studies.
Hope this answers all your questions and looking forward to potentially seeing you from September!

Aminvroeg 3 jaar, 7 maanden geleden
Hi,
I have few questions to ask;
1. When should I come to Enschede to be fully prepared and ready for the Sep intake? Can I come on the 1st of August for example?
2. Could you please explain more to me how is the semester like, regarding the subjects, studying and so on?
3. Internships paid?
-
Hi Amin!
It's good to arrive at least one week before the introduction, so you have time to get familiar with the city. When I started, I arrived around mid-August.
You can get an impression of how the academic year looks like here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EV5uS067ECg&list=PLVxbxX3iRJ2TQv9VYlk8-GtFb8qxS6DpJ
And regarding internships: It depends on the company.
Most internships pay a (small) fee, but it depends on the agreement you make with the company.
